Lip Flip in Vancouver
A small, precise treatment to the upper lip area, at our Fairview Skin Lab. Consultation-first, assessed individually before anything is decided.
Book a ConsultationThe lip flip is one of the smallest treatments we offer, and one of the most commonly misunderstood. People often arrive having seen it online and aren't quite sure what it is, how it differs from filler, or whether it's what they actually want.
That's a good reason to come in and ask. Before any product, you sit down with a licensed injector and talk through the upper lip area, what you're hoping for, and whether treatment makes sense for you at all. Sometimes the honest answer is that a different approach suits you better, or that nothing is needed right now.
We're in Fairview, a block from Kitsilano.

One rule shapes everything we do: you should still look like you.
The lips sit at the centre of the face and carry a lot of expression. Small choices here read loudly, which is why this is an area where restraint matters more than ambition.
It's the reason the consultation comes first, the reason we start measured, and the reason we'd rather you do less than too much. Subtle isn't a compromise here. It's the whole point.
About the Lip Flip in Vancouver
The lip flip is a small treatment placed in the upper lip area. It's one of the most conservative things we do, and the amount used is minimal compared with most other injectable appointments. Plenty of our consultations here end with a suggestion to start smaller, wait, or skip it entirely.
Lip Flip vs Lip Filler
It comes up most often alongside a different question, which is whether someone wants a lip flip or lip filler. These are two separate approaches that work in different ways, suit different goals, and are not interchangeable. Some people are better served by one, some by the other, and some by neither. Sorting out which conversation you're actually having is usually the most useful part of a first consultation, and it's why we don't take a request for one at face value without talking it through.
When treatment is the right tool for the upper lip area, the options discussed may include a neuromodulator. At FaceCrime the neuromodulators we work with are Botox, Dysport, and Nuceiva. They're named here so you know what's available, not because one is right for everyone. Which option, if any, suits you is decided in person with a licensed injector, after your medical history and your goals have been talked through openly.
The appointment itself is short, usually 15 to 30 minutes. Most people find any discomfort minimal, and there's little to no downtime for most. You can stop or pause at any point.
What to Expect at FaceCrime
The upper lip is a small area where a little goes a long way, and it's one of the places an overdone result is noticed immediately. That's why we treat it conservatively and would rather revisit than overshoot. FaceCrime is a small, personalized Skin Lab in Fairview, built around the idea that aesthetics work best when they're considered and connected to your broader health. That's how we work here.
- Treatments performed by licensed injectors in a regulated medical environment
- The upper lip area assessed while your face moves, not only at rest
- Lip flip and filler talked through as separate options, with no push toward either
- A calm, judgment-free clinic in Vancouver
- A naturopathic team in the same building, since skin and internal health are connected
Skin reflects what's happening inside. For some of our clients, that's where the real conversation starts. If you're curious about how internal physiology and aesthetics connect, take a look at our naturopathic aesthetics write-up, or bring it up at your consultation.

The Process
Consultation
We sit down first. Medical history, what you're hoping for, and how your upper lip sits and moves when you talk and smile. If treatment isn't the right call for you right now, we say so.
Planning
If it is the right call, we talk through whether a lip flip or a different approach fits your goal, and what's realistic for an area this small. Nothing happens until the plan makes sense to you.
Treatment
The appointment is short, usually 15 to 30 minutes. A very fine needle is used in the upper lip area, and you're awake, aware, and can stop at any point.
Aftercare
Simple written aftercare to take home. Because the full effect settles over about two weeks, we suggest waiting until then before judging the result.
Other Areas People Ask About
The lip area often comes up alongside others. These are the ones we get asked about most, all part of the same consultation-first conversation.

Lip Flip FAQs
What is a lip flip?
It's a small, precise treatment placed in the upper lip area, using a minimal amount compared with most other injectable appointments. What it involves for you, and whether it's appropriate at all, is assessed individually with a licensed injector at your consultation.
What is the difference between a lip flip and lip filler?
They're two separate approaches that work in different ways and suit different goals. They aren't interchangeable, and neither is automatically the better choice. Which one fits what you're after, if either does, is worked through in person with a licensed injector. You can also read about our dermal filler options.
How long does a lip flip last?
Longevity varies quite a bit from person to person, and the upper lip is an area where that variation is more noticeable than most. Your injector will talk you through what's realistic for your situation rather than quoting a fixed number.
Will it affect how I speak or drink?
Some people notice the upper lip feels different for a short period, particularly with things like straws or certain sounds. This is worth raising at your consultation, especially if you sing, play a wind instrument, or speak publicly for work, so it can be factored into the conversation before anything is decided.
Is there any downtime?
For most people there's little to no downtime, though this varies. Some minor bruising at the injection sites is possible. Your injector talks you through what to expect for your specific plan.
How much does a lip flip cost?
Botox is $9 per unit at FaceCrime. Because a lip flip typically uses a small amount, it's usually among the lower-cost appointments, though how many units a plan involves varies by the individual. You'll know the full cost before anything is booked. See our Botox cost page.
How do I book a consultation?
Book online, call us at (604) 676-1808, or drop in. We're at 1765 W 8th Ave, Unit 105 in Fairview, a block from Kitsilano. The first conversation is the most important one. We'd be glad to have it with you.
Come Talk to Us
The consultation is the place to ask anything. Bring your questions, your hesitations, the things you've read online and aren't sure about. The conversation is where we figure out whether treatment is right for you, and whether we're the right clinic to do it.
