Jaw Slimming in Vancouver
A consultation-first approach to the lower face, at our Fairview Skin Lab. Assessed in proportion with the rest of your features before anything is decided.
Book a ConsultationJaw slimming is about the proportions of the lower face. People usually come in having noticed that the lower third of their face reads wider or more square than they'd like, and wondering whether anything can be done about it.
Sometimes it can. Sometimes what they're describing is better addressed a different way, or is a matter of how the face is photographed and lit rather than the face itself. That's the conversation worth having first. Before any product, you sit down with a licensed injector and talk through the lower face, what you're hoping for, and whether treatment makes sense for you at all.
We're in Fairview, a block from Kitsilano.

One rule shapes everything we do: you should still look like you.
The lower face carries a lot of what makes a face recognisable. Changing its proportions is not a small decision, and it's one we'd rather approach gradually than decisively.
It's the reason the consultation comes first, the reason we start measured, and the reason we'd rather you do less than too much. Subtle isn't a compromise here. It's the whole point.
About Jaw Slimming in Vancouver
Jaw slimming is an aesthetic focus area concerned with the width and shape of the lower face. It's one of the treatments where the consultation does the most work, because what people mean by it varies enormously from person to person.
A face is a set of proportions rather than a collection of separate parts. The lower third reads in relation to the cheekbones, the chin, and the length of the face overall, which is why we assess the whole picture rather than one measurement in isolation. Two people can describe the same concern in the same words and need completely different conversations. Part of a first appointment is working out which one you're having, and being straightforward if the answer is that nothing needs doing.
It's also worth separating jaw slimming from jawline definition, which people often use interchangeably. They're different aims that involve different approaches, and one is not a substitute for the other. Which conversation fits your goal, if either does, is something a licensed injector works through with you in person.
When treatment is the right tool for the lower face, the options discussed may include a neuromodulator. At FaceCrime the neuromodulators we work with are Botox, Dysport, and Nuceiva. They're named here so you know what's available, not because one is right for everyone. Which option, if any, suits you is decided in person with a licensed injector, after your medical history and your goals have been talked through openly.
What to Expect at FaceCrime
The lower face is an area where changes read across the whole face rather than staying local, so it's assessed in proportion rather than on its own. That's why we take this one slowly and would rather build gradually than commit early. FaceCrime is a small, personalized Skin Lab in Fairview, built around the idea that aesthetics work best when they're considered and connected to your broader health. That's the standard we hold ourselves to.
- Treatments performed by licensed injectors in a regulated medical environment
- The lower face assessed in proportion with your cheekbones, chin, and face length
- Jaw slimming and jawline definition talked through as separate aims
- A calm, judgment-free clinic in Vancouver
- A naturopathic team in the same building, since skin and internal health are connected
Skin reflects what's happening inside. For some of our clients, that's where the real conversation starts. If you're curious about how internal physiology and aesthetics connect, take a look at our naturopathic aesthetics write-up, or bring it up at your consultation.

The Process
Consultation
We sit down first. Medical history, what you're hoping for, and how the lower face sits in proportion with the rest of your features. If treatment isn't the right call for you right now, we say so.
Planning
If it is the right call, we talk through whether jaw slimming or a different approach fits your goal, and what's realistic given your proportions. Nothing happens until the plan makes sense to you.
Treatment
The appointment is short, usually 15 to 30 minutes. A very fine needle is used, and you're awake, aware, and can stop at any point.
Aftercare
Simple written aftercare to take home. This is an area that's reviewed over a longer window than most, so your injector will set out the follow-up timeline for your plan.
Other Areas People Ask About
The lower face often comes up alongside others. These are the ones we get asked about most, all part of the same consultation-first conversation.

Jaw Slimming FAQs
What is jaw slimming?
It's an aesthetic focus area concerned with the width and shape of the lower face. What it involves for you, and whether it's appropriate at all, is assessed individually with a licensed injector at your consultation, in proportion with the rest of your features.
What is the difference between jaw slimming and jawline filler?
They're different aims. One concerns the width and shape of the lower face, the other concerns definition and contour along the jawline. They aren't interchangeable, and one isn't a substitute for the other. Which fits your goal, if either does, is worked through in person. You can also read about our dermal filler options.
Will it change how I look?
Any change to the lower face reads across the whole face rather than staying local, which is exactly why it's assessed in proportion and approached gradually. Our starting point is that you should still look like you. What's realistic for your features is discussed openly before anything is decided.
How soon would I notice a change?
This area is reviewed over a longer window than most, and it varies considerably from person to person. Rather than quoting a fixed timeline, your injector will set out what to expect for your specific plan and when the follow-up should happen.
Is there any downtime?
For most people there's little to no downtime, though this varies. Some minor bruising at the injection sites is possible. Your injector talks you through what to expect for your specific plan.
How much does jaw slimming cost?
Botox is $12 per unit at FaceCrime. How many units a plan involves varies by the approach and the individual, so you'll know the full cost before anything is booked. See our Botox cost page.
How do I book a consultation?

Come Talk to Us
The consultation is the place to ask anything. Bring your questions, your hesitations, the things you've read online and aren't sure about. The conversation is where we figure out whether treatment is right for you, and whether we're the right clinic to do it.
